My New Year Determination – by Tomeo
Welcome to 2019. This is a year that is already very special. While people usually may proclaim determinations of new beginnings and commitment timely at the moment of transition to the new year ahead, I usually wait a few days to determine what will really be my commitment to the year. I think I got it. I do not think anyone will understand unless asking me directly but here we go:
This year I divide my thoughts completely as for God to bring me to the top and help me conquer the world. Meaning that I wish to help God’s dreams to come true. I do that by working very hard as to our system at the Marine Foundation to be the best there is. Well, now you might think I am presumptuous. First I am saying: “God”. If someone can prove to me that God does not exist, then come on and ruin my day. It would be like denying ones’s own existence or trying to explain what designed the invisible seed of the tulip or the rose. I have 2 children. I have seen them grow from the very mother’s womb. It’s interesting I have never met a mother denying the existence of something greater than ourselves and the Universe all together. It is like the “conscience”. How do we explain the existence of the conscience or the movement of feelings and emotions. The scientist might tell you this or that, but try to scientifically why a mother would love a child to even sacrifice her own life if it became necessary. Yes, you can explain physical energy but it is very challenging to describe in physics the energy that moves the spirit and that makes you and me, unique and precious individuals.
Dividing oneself is necessary if one has a mission that might support the needs of many. When I was very young, I was in situation when I had no choice but to divide my spirits and ways, into focusing on only but one thing: make the goal. Bring the result. It’s not about money, power, or anything the world would reward you with. It has to do with just ourselves as human beings and the purpose of living. Our conscience knows. We know that if we do procrastinate with our desire to accomplish anything, the sorrow will take over until the next chance to a new sunrise. Luckily, the sun rises everyday and that is our fortune. The sun will rise 359 times from the day I write this report. Which means that I have 359 chances to make 2019 a worthy gift of growth, realization and a feeling of accomplishment. Planning the day might seem more important than planning the year. “Offer the waters of your soul and you will see miracles happen in permanence” – a voice once told me. Meaning we are not here for just ourselves. The heights of meditation appears in the discovering of beauty through every interaction that takes place between subject and object in circular motion. Call it “love” or call it whatever you like to call it, but the beauty you experience through serving another is none to be compared. You might climb Everest, you might dive to the deepest of oceans, you might become so wealthy, you might travels to every wonders of the world, you might attend all the most extravagant events there is, you might win an olympic gold medal, but truly I say to you: nothing is more beautiful and satisfying than giving a helping hand to someone in need. The grail of happiness is the discovery that every child is the exact resemblance of God Himself/Herself. Once upon a time, you were that child too. “Give others as you would give to yourself” – that is the voice I heard today.
