When I first met them, they were mere children; now, as I gaze upon them, my eyes brim with tears.
As I reflect upon the extraordinary journey of the World Football Youth Association (WFYA), now known as FYA, I am reminded of the profound impact these remarkable children have had on my life and the larger world of sports and peace-building. It was only a few weeks ago that I penned a blog about these inspiring young individuals, which can be found here: WFYA Planning. Refer to teh Blog https://marinef.org/wfya-planning/ These are the same children who were instrumental in the inception of FYA and have been the backbone of the initiative that has successfully engineered the WORLDPEACE Cup, with its inaugural event hopefully taking place in Liberia this year.
Observing their growth, both in stature and character, fills me with an indescribable sense of pride and emotion. They have blossomed magnificently, and in them, I see reflections of my own children. Their eyes, sparkling with hope, ambition, and innocence, bestow upon me a level of happiness and fulfillment that is rare and precious. Time, indeed, has a way of swiftly moving, particularly so when marked by the growth of children. Their transformation from little kids into young, promising individuals is a vivid reminder of the fleeting nature of childhood and the rapid passage of time.
I am immensely grateful for the steadfast dedication and commitment of Manager Modou Lami Jallow, whose efforts have been pivotal in guiding and nurturing these young souls. His contribution cannot be overstated, and his role in their development is a cornerstone of our success.
Every day, I find myself wishing to be there with them, sharing in their laughter, their triumphs, and their dreams. If fortune had smiled upon me with the wealth of a millionaire, there would be no bounds to what I would dedicate to their growth and wellbeing. The recent photographs sent by our driver, Mr. Solomon, have been a source of great joy. They serve as a tangible reminder of the impact of our collective efforts and the bright futures that lie ahead for these children.
As I sit behind my computer, trying to conceal the tears that well up in my eyes, I am overcome with emotions of gratitude, pride, and a sense of accomplishment. The journey with these children has been nothing short of miraculous, a testament to the power of sport and community in shaping young lives.
In recognition of their foundational role in the formation of FYA and in celebration of their journey, I have decided to take a significant step. As a token of my admiration and belief in their potential, I am going to qualify their team automatically for the upcoming events. This gesture is not just about acknowledging their past contributions but also about investing in their future – a future that holds the promise of greatness, not just in sports, but in their capacity as ambassadors of peace and unity.
This journey with the children of FYA is more than just about football; it’s a journey of heart, hope, and the relentless pursuit of a better, more unified world. And as I look forward to the many milestones we will cross together, my heart swells with an overwhelming sense of gratitude and anticipation for what the future holds.
