Transforming The School System

GAVCA and the Marine Foundation: The Beautiful School Concept and the Bigger Picture in Liberia

The Marine Foundation’s “beautiful school” concept in Liberia, Africa, is a visionary project led by Ambassador H.E. Agnes Fortune Cannon, under the education agenda of the Marine Foundation Africa, headed by H.E. Koura Nielle Ouattara. The project, supported by the Marine Foundation Global from Tokyo, Japan, aims to rebuild a school in Liberia, fulfilling a long-awaited dream of Ambassador Cannon.

Located at Pipe Line, Pynesville, Montserrado County, in Monrovia, Liberia, the school is envisioned as a signature event for the Marine Foundation, embodying the organization’s values of life, peace, and comfort, symbolized by the motherly warmth of water. The project is expected to take about nine months to complete and will have the capacity to welcome hundreds of students. Its state-of-the-art design and concept are intended to showcase the beauty of rural Africa and establish the school as one of the best elementary educational institutes in Africa.

In addition to the construction of the school, a design center will be set up to invite international students from around the world to contribute to the school’s development under the Sea Campus Universal (SCU) concept. This concept aims to host 15,000 children in village campuses. While initially starting as a small school, the Liberian project is envisioned as the birthplace of the largest school system in the world, utilizing cutting-edge technologies to nurture geniuses and high achievers.

To achieve this vision, the school will be equipped with modern facilities and resources that support a holistic education. These will include:

Smart Classrooms: Equipped with interactive whiteboards, projectors, and high-speed internet to facilitate digital learning and global connectivity.

Science and Technology Labs: State-of-the-art laboratories for practical experiments and research in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) subjects.

Library and Media Center: A well-stocked library with a wide range of books, e-books, and multimedia resources to support learning and research.

Arts and Music Rooms: Dedicated spaces for creative expression in visual arts, music, and performing arts.

Sports Facilities: Outdoor and indoor sports facilities, including a playground, sports field, gymnasium, and swimming pool, to promote physical fitness and teamwork.

Health and Wellness Center: A facility to provide medical care, counseling, and wellness programs for students and staff.

Environmental Sustainability Features: Incorporation of green technologies and practices, such as solar panels, rainwater harvesting, and waste recycling, to promote environmental stewardship.

Community Engagement Spaces: Areas for community events, workshops, and parent-teacher interactions to foster a strong school-community relationship.
Teacher Development Center: A facility for ongoing professional development and training of educators to ensure high-quality teaching and learning.

Inclusive Learning Environments: Design and resources to accommodate students with diverse needs and backgrounds, ensuring equal opportunities for all.

The Marine Foundation’s beautiful school concept in Liberia is not just about building a physical structure but creating a future and a signature concept in the field of education that will have a lasting impact on the community and the world. Through this project, the foundation aims to provide a nurturing environment that fosters innovation, creativity, and excellence, preparing students to become global leaders and change-makers.
