A New Era for Madagascar: The Marine Foundation is Officially Established
With great honor and immense joy, we announce that the Marine Foundation Madagascar is now fully registered in the heart of this magnificent island nation. This historic milestone marks the beginning of a transformative journey, where Madagascar takes the lead in our Island Nations Education Program, an initiative dedicated to empowering youth through The Great Ocean Universal Academy—a vocational school designed for children aged 7 to 18.
Beyond education, Madagascar will also benefit from the Marine Foundation’s Voyage Academy (VA), an innovative tourism project designed for the world’s retired population—passionate travelers who seek to give back to society while embracing the adventure of a lifetime.
A Visionary Leader for Madagascar
At the helm of this extraordinary movement is Laurence Rakotobe, an early and devoted member of the Marine Foundation, alongside her brother Olivier. Deeply rooted in Madagascar’s history, Laurence’s family has long been among the nation’s esteemed figures, contributing to its development and cultural heritage. As the President of Marine Foundation Madagascar and a distinguished member of the First Ladies Club Academic Department, Laurence embodies leadership, vision, and dedication.
Her commitment extends beyond education and community projects. In partnership with her husband, Laurence owns a prestigious hotel in the prime center of Madagascar’s capital. Now, in a bold and inspiring move, this establishment has been transformed into the Marine Embassy Resort Hotel for Madagascar—a symbol of our commitment to hospitality, sustainability, and global connection.
Madagascar: A Jewel of the Indian Ocean
Madagascar is a land of untamed beauty, where nature and culture dance harmoniously. From the towering Avenue of the Baobabs, where ancient trees whisper stories of time, to the emerald rainforests of Andasibe, alive with the calls of indri lemurs, the island is a sanctuary of wonder. Its shores, kissed by the turquoise waters of the Indian Ocean, invite explorers and dreamers alike, while its people, rich in tradition and warmth, make it a land of extraordinary charm.
