The Advent of The Peace Dollar

The Advent of The Peace Dollar

The Peace-Dollar

The Peace-Dollar – A Symbol of Restoration for the World

In an age where currency has become invisible—reduced to digits, whispers of value in cyberspace—the Peace-Dollar emerges not just as a financial instrument, but as a sacred emblem of restoration, beauty, and meaning. It is fiat money, yes, but unlike any the world has ever seen. It takes the form not of a coin, but of an exquisitely designed bill, infused with the breath of history and the heartbeat of humanity.

Conceived by Tomeo Motto, the Peace-Dollar was brought to life through the visionary hands of the Marine Foundation—an organization built on a philosophy of peace, communication, and global unity.

This is not merely currency.
It is a story told in gold and ink, a masterpiece of design and diplomacy.

Initiated in 2022 and completed in January 2025, the Peace-Dollar’s surface is a timeline of humanity’s journey through the ages. One side, like a mural of motion, illustrates the evolution of transportation:
From the home, to the horse, the boat, the locomotive, and the airplane—each a symbol of our quest to move, to reach, to connect.

But look closer.

In the bottom left and right corners of this magnificent bill, a quiet miracle appears:
All the flags of the world, interwoven—each distinct, each sovereign—are laid side by side in perfect harmony. They are not loud nor obvious. They are separated by delicate gold strings, so fine, they seem to whisper rather than shout.
This is the silent anthem of unity—a visual poem of global peace that only reveals itself to eyes willing to see.

Yet the Peace-Dollar is more than symbolism—it is substance.
Entirely backed by minerals, and fortified by the developmental wealth of the Marine Foundation, it stands as a beacon of real value in a world often ruled by speculation.

Unlike digital currency, this bill can be held, cherished, passed.
It has weight without mass—the emotional gravity of something eternal.

With 250 patented security features, it is immune to counterfeit, protected in form as it is noble in purpose.

And at its heart lies a singular vision:
To define a new era, where peace is not passive, but active communication.
Where money is not merely exchanged—but respected.
Where each note, in its artistry and intent, becomes a prayer for humanity.

The Peace-Dollar is not simply meant to circulate.
It is meant to inspire.
To heal.
To remind us that every nation has a place in the tapestry of peace.

It is not just a bill.
It is a message.
A royal letter to the world.
A promise wrapped in gold.

Printing

A Sacred Birthplace, Veiled for Peace

While the Peace-Dollar breathes as a global symbol of restoration, its physical manifestation—the printing of each precious note—takes place in a location that remains undisclosed for the time being. This intentional discretion serves a purpose beyond secrecy; it is a gesture of protection, reverence, and preparation.

The facilities entrusted with the production of the Peace-Dollar are of the highest international security standards, equipped with proprietary technology capable of embedding over 250 security features into each note. These centers are chosen not only for their technical excellence but also for their philosophical alignment with the Peace-Dollar’s mission—to produce not just currency, but a legacy.

The Peace-Dollar is not a coin, nor is it a digital abstraction—it is tangible, fiat currency in the form of a beautifully designed banknote, destined to circulate with meaning. It stands as a bridge between eras: the permanence of touchable value and the ethereal speed of the digital age.

Each note is backed entirely by the sovereign wealth of development projects stewarded by the Marine Foundation, and guaranteed in gold through the authority of local dignatories.

The birthplace of the Peace-Dollar is hidden for now, but soon it will be known—not as a mere location, but as a sanctuary of purpose, where peace was printed not just in ink, but in intention.

The First Note – “The House”

The Foundation of Peace

The journey of the Peace-Dollar begins—fittingly—with the House.

This is the first note in the symphony, the first breath in the melody of peace, rendered in a serene and noble green—the color of life, growth, renewal, and sanctuary. It is not merely a representation of shelter. It is the womb of civilization, the origin of community, the place where love is first learned, where voices first rise in song, and where peace begins.

In this luminous green design, the House stands at the center, dignified and timeless. It is not any one house—it is every home. A symbol that transcends culture and continent. A reminder that before we built cities, machines, and towers, we built places to belong.

The green hues breathe with softness and hope, a tranquil echo of forests and fields, of living earth and harmony. It speaks of a peace that is rooted—not in law or treaty—but in human warmth, in the quiet dignity of coexistence.

Around the house, subtle patterns emerge:
Walls that do not divide, but protect.
Doors that do not shut out, but invite.
Windows that do not shield from the world, but welcome its light.

This first note is more than a beginning—it is a foundation. It grounds the entire Peace-Dollar series in the universal truth that before nations, before currencies, before crowns—there was home.

Within this design, security meets serenity. The same 250 invisible protections rest silently within, guarding this treasure. And at the bottom corners, as with every note to follow, the flags of the world lie woven like threads of a family quilt—connected by unseen golden lines, telling us:
Every nation began with a home.
And every path to peace begins by honoring the homes of others.

Let this note be a reminder
That peace does not start in palaces.
It starts in living rooms.
In shared meals.
In the silence of safety.

This is the first breath of the Peace-Dollar.
This is “The House.”
A dwelling of dignity.
A vision in green.
The first promise of a world restored.

The Second Note – “The Horse”

The Dawn of Movement

If “The House” is the beginning of belonging, then “The Horse” is the beginning of journey.

This second note of the Peace-Dollar series is alive with the spirit of motion and discovery, clothed in the rich, glowing hue of orange—the color of sunrise, of flame, of bold hearts unafraid to roam.

“The Horse” speaks of a time when humanity first partnered with nature to move beyond borders. A time when the whisper of hooves marked the rhythm of connection. When the path between homes, once long and uncertain, was bridged by strength, speed, and trust.

Upon this note, the horse stands noble and unshackled, captured in mid-stride—its mane like wind, its gaze forward, unbroken. It is not burdened—it is honored. The horse is not a beast here, but a bridge—a bearer of messages, hopes, and peace across distant lands.

The orange background glows with warmth and courage—it tells the story of humanity’s first great leap beyond stillness. Where green was the sanctuary, orange is the spark—the call to meet the other, to carry peace from one village to the next, one nation to another.

And woven quietly, as always, into the bottom corners, lie the flags of all nations, veiled in sacred order, divided by the thinnest of golden threads—reminding us that before technology, before borders were drawn on maps, there were trails marked by the tracks of horses, carrying the spirit of peace before it had a name.

This note, like the one before it, is protected by 250 invisible layers of security, each one guarding its truth, its beauty, its mission.

But its true protection lies in its purpose:

To remind us that peace is not passive.
It must travel.
It must move, gallop across valleys and deserts,
It must arrive not as an army, but as a gift on horseback.

This is the second breath of the Peace-Dollar.
This is “The Horse.”
A tribute to movement.
A hymn to loyalty.
A flame carried through time
—lighting the path from one heart… to another.

The Third Note – “The Boat”

The Voyage of Connection

Where the horse carried us across land, the boat dared to glide across the unknown—across waters that mirrored the sky and whispered secrets of distant shores. This is the third note of the Peace-Dollar, known as “The Boat”, and it is draped in the sacred and infinite hue of blue.

Blue—the color of depth, of dreams, of the soul’s longings. It is the color of oceans and heavens, of silence and song. It holds within it both mystery and calm, both the question and the answer.

This note tells the tale of humanity’s first voyages beyond the visible—when we trusted the stars and surrendered to the waves. The boat, central in the design, floats not just on water, but on faith. It is not merely wood and sail—it is intention. It is a vessel for stories, for spices, for letters and legends. It is peace that sails.

Around the boat, soft lines mimic the ebb and flow of the sea. There is motion, but also serenity. It speaks of trade, not conquest. Of journeys made not to take, but to share.

The blue design evokes a breath held and then released, the way the ocean pauses before kissing the shore. It reminds us that to meet others, we must sometimes lose sight of our own harbors, embracing the wind and uncertainty in pursuit of unity.

And just as in the notes before it, the bottom left and right corners quietly cradle the flags of every nation, woven beneath delicate strands of gold, almost imperceptible to the eye—yet present like the ocean’s pull beneath every wave. They are the map of peace, drawn not with borders but with bridges of blue.

This note, too, holds the 250 layers of protection, shielding its artistry, its sovereignty, its message. Yet the truest security lies in what it teaches:

That peace is not only to be carried—it must be navigated.
That connection, like sailing, requires courage.
That the sea does not divide us—it invites us.

This is the third breath of the Peace-Dollar.
This is “The Boat.”
A vessel of trust.
A compass of communication.
A blue horizon where strangers become neighbors,
and the world becomes one great shore.

The Fourth Note – “The Locomotive”

The Pulse of Progress

With the fourth note of the Peace-Dollar, the journey takes on speed, strength, and rhythm. This is “The Locomotive”—the thundering spirit of the Industrial Age, yet here, it arrives not with the sound of conquest, but with the whistle of unity.

Bathed in a rosy pink, the note speaks softly and boldly all at once. Pink—often misunderstood as delicate—is here transformed into a symbol of harmony and momentum. A hue that carries the compassion of red and the calm of white, it is the color of tender revolution.

The locomotive surges forward across the center of the design, not as a machine of smoke and steel, but as a bridge of breath between cities and people. Its carriages do not carry cargo alone, but hope, letters, and possibility. It tells the story of how humanity learned not just to move, but to move together.

Lines in the background form tracks that fade into the horizon—a symbolic infinity. Each rail is a metaphor for intention, for direction, for a peace that is not passive, but powered. A peace that moves with rhythm, that overcomes distances and delivers reconciliation.

The rose-pink tone brings an unexpected warmth to industry—it softens the steel, blesses the machinery, and reminds us that even progress can be gentle when driven by purpose.

As in all notes, the flags of all nations rest quietly in the lower corners, separated by threads of gold barely seen, yet always felt. Here, they seem to ride along too, as if each flag is a passenger—united in this collective train of destiny, racing toward a future of understanding.

The 250-fold security, silently embedded in the fibers of this note, guard not only the physical integrity, but the intellectual and emotional soul of what this symbol stands for.

This is not just the story of transportation. It is the story of time shrinking, of people drawing near, of borders turning into bridges.

This is the fourth breath of the Peace-Dollar.
This is “The Locomotive.”
A force of empathy.
A rail-bound promise.
A journey that no longer leaves anyone behind.

The Fifth Note – “The Airplane”

The Flight of Peace

The Peace-Dollar’s final note is a dance between engineering and miracle, between metal and miracle, between human invention and nature’s silent poetry. This is “The Airplane & The Butterfly,” a note suspended in the radiant glow of yellow—the color of light, of hope, of the dawn that never dims.

Yellow is the sun itself—constant, life-giving, fearless. And so this note, wrapped in golden warmth, tells a story of how peace, once grounded, now learns to fly.

At the heart of the design, the airplane soars—elegant, unwavering, a modern chariot of connection. No longer bound by oceans or mountains, humanity now travels in hours where once it journeyed for years. The airplane here does not carry power—it carries presence, it brings loved ones home, it takes ideas across continents, it delivers peace at the speed of breath.

Beside it, almost like a whisper, floats the butterfly—fragile, exquisite, eternal. A symbol of transformation, of lightness, of the soul’s quiet ability to rise. It flutters not by force, but by faith in the wind. Together, the airplane and the butterfly move as one—man and nature in harmony, flight not as escape, but as embrace.

The yellow sky that surrounds them is soft yet brilliant—a reminder that peace, like flight, is not only ascent, but liberation. This note speaks of a world where distances mean little and hearts are only one horizon away from meeting.

As with all the notes before, the flags of all nations remain faithfully in the lower corners, delicately threaded with gold, nearly invisible but never absent—floating as if caught in the same uplifting breeze. A tapestry of togetherness rising on wings of intention.

And hidden within the fibers, the 250 layers of silent guardianship—technology protecting philosophy, shielding a vision meant to last generations.

This is not merely a bill.
It is the final stanza of a song.
A lullaby for the planet.
A wind beneath our better angels.

This is the fifth breath of the Peace-Dollar.
This is “The Airplane & The Butterfly.”
A skyward hymn.
A flight without fear.
A golden promise that peace, once it flies… never falls.

DXB News Network and the Cinderella Tale

DXB News Network and the Cinderella Tale

Miss Irka Bochenko is the Global Brand Ambassador of DXB News Network and is Honored by the  Campus Des Maquilleurs in Paris.  She has the Courage to Dream, Collaborate, and Inspire.

Once Upon a Time: When Elegance & Beauty Converge with A Cosmic Media Platform

Once upon a time, a historic moment unfolded in the heart of Paris, where fashion met art and creativity flowed like the Seine. The sun dipped low, casting golden hues on the elegant facade of Campus de Paris, a prestigious makeup institute renowned for nurturing Europe’s finest beauty professionals. Inside, the air was filled with excitement as two worlds were about to collide, creating a story that would bridge cultures and inspire generations.

The halls of Campus de Paris shimmered with anticipation as the institute prepared to sign a groundbreaking memorandum of understanding with DXB News Network, a dynamic media powerhouse from Dubai. This alliance was not just a professional partnership; it was the birth of a cultural bridge between two iconic cities—Paris and Dubai. The goal was to intertwine fashion, media, and beauty education, connecting the Middle East’s bustling streets to Europe’s timeless elegance.

In the grand ceremony, where dreams and ideas danced together, the spotlight fell on a figure whose grace transcended time—Irka Bochenko, a legendary actress who once captivated the world as a Bond girl in Moonraker. Her presence was more than just a nostalgic nod to cinematic history; it celebrated artistry and resilience. As Irka stood before the audience, her voice soft yet powerful, she was named the “Ambassador of Beauty” by the institute, a title as elegant as the city itself.

But that night, the story didn’t end with a title. Irka revealed her latest creative endeavor, the Bochenko Collection—a luxurious fashion line embodying the harmony of East and West, tradition and innovation. Parisian models graced the runway, their silhouettes flowing like poetry. At the same time, Irka’s vision painted the future of beauty and elegance—almost like Cenderella leaving her shoe to trace back to the heart.

Amidst the applause, Dr. Amrinder Pal Singh, the visionary CEO of DXB News Network, spoke with passion. “We are not just connecting cities,” he declared. “We are building a cultural bridge that supports talent and creative growth.” The words resonated, weaving a tapestry of dreams that stretched from the UAE to Europe and soon beyond to Africa.

This partnership was more than just an exchange of skills—it was a celebration of human connection, a belief that art and culture could dissolve boundaries and unite hearts. Irka, with her timeless charm, spoke from her soul. “Culture brings people together,” she said, “no matter where they are from or what language they speak.” Her words were like a melody, reminding everyone that beauty was not just seen—it was felt and shared.

As the evening continued, laughter and stories filled the grand hall. Irka, the face of this newfound union, mingled with emerging talents, offering advice wrapped in kindness and wisdom. She knew that true beauty lay in appearance and courage—the courage to dream, collaborate, and inspire.

As Paris fell into a quiet, starry night, the partnership between Campus de Paris and DXB News Network stood as a beacon, a promise that creativity knows no borders. In the following days, Dubai and Paris would continue their dance—a harmonious blend of cultures, where beauty was not just a craft but a universal language.

And so began the story of two cities bound by creativity and vision. With every step, they walked together toward a future where innovation and tradition intertwined, illuminating the world with their brilliance.

Having founded several community-based development groups in Kenya, he continues to make a significant impact in his roles at Water for the World and Practical Action Kenya.

Walter’s passion for helping the less privileged stems from his challenging childhood, which was marked by poverty and a lack of necessities. Growing up, he faced malnutrition and walked over five miles daily to fetch water, often on the brink of dropping out of school. The generosity of well-wishers and friends enabled him to overcome these hardships, shaping his lifelong commitment to providing clean and potable water to underserved communities. Today, Walter’s dedication to improving lives is unwavering as he works to ensure access to clean water and support for children in need.

Tom Abonyo

Tom Abonyo is a skilled hydrogeologist and a graduate of the Kenya Water Institute, driven by a deep commitment to resolving water scarcity issues in Kenya. His passion for water resource management began during his academic journey and has since translated into tangible contributions to communities in need.

Tom has made a significant impact by bringing potable water to arid and semi-arid regions, including Turkana, Baringo, Garissa, Kwale, and Kilifi counties. His work in some of Kenya’s most water-challenged areas highlights his dedication to making clean water accessible. Currently involved with Water for the World, Tom remains steadfast in his mission to improve the quality of life for millions lacking access to safe drinking water.

Marijah Butcher

Marijah Butcher, a 73-year-old mother, grandmother, and community advocate, has always sought to make a difference in the lives of others. Her journey with Water for the World began when she met Walter Okombo while coaching a Young Entrepreneurs Alliance (Y.E.A.) course. Witnessing Walter’s passion for helping his community, particularly in tackling the challenges faced by teenage mothers and children, Marijah was inspired to take action.

Together, they envisioned a clean and safe Lake Victoria, where water would no longer be a threat but a source of sustenance. Her collaboration with James Pink, another passionate advocate, marked the beginning of a transformative project—drilling boreholes to provide safe drinking water. Marijah’s experience living abroad in Indonesia and the Philippines and working on UN projects has enriched her understanding of global challenges and fueled her commitment to addressing water scarcity.

James Pink

James Pink, a philanthropist and entrepreneur, has dedicated his life to helping children and empowering communities. As a young man, he ran a “Children’s English Club” to support immigrant children in the UK and later built a successful Telecoms & IT company that sponsored the education of 26 children from impoverished backgrounds for 20 years.

After selling his business, James established Van Store Ltd, which now funds Water for the World’s projects. His vision is to alleviate poverty in Kenya by providing clean water, fostering sustainable agriculture, and supporting community development. James believes that even small contributions can make a profound difference and is committed to ensuring every penny raised goes directly to essential water and community projects.

Water for the World: An Historic Initiative for Poverty Alleviation

Bridging the Gap Between Necessity and Opportunity

In a world where millions still lack access to clean water, basic sanitation, and sustainable resources, the importance of strategic collaboration cannot be overstated. Water for the World, a UK-based organization dedicated to providing clean water solutions in Kenya, has already laid a strong foundation for transformation. Now, in an unprecedented partnership, the Marine Foundation is stepping in to elevate this mission to a global scale, aligning with its vision of eradicating poverty and ensuring fundamental human rights worldwide.

A Shared Commitment to Humanity

Their focus on empowering local women and providing sustainable water access has not only improved health conditions but also stimulated economic activity.

The Marine Foundation, known for its large-scale humanitarian projects across the globe, recognizes the potential of these efforts and aims to enhance them. By integrating Water for the World into its expansive network of development initiatives, Marine Foundation seeks to:

Upgrade Infrastructure:

Implement advanced water purification and distribution systems to reach a greater number of communities.

Empower Local Communities:

Develop educational and training programs to equip local populations with the tools and knowledge necessary for long-term sustainability.

Expand the Mission Beyond Kenya:

Why MAKENI, SIERRA LEAONE?

A New Dawn in Makeni: Unity, Prosperity, and Transformation – In the Model of Africa’s Renaissance

Makeni, the heart of the Northern Province, pulses with life, culture, and history. Its bustling streets and vibrant communities are a tapestry of Sierra Leone’s rich diversity. Temne voices mingle with Krio conversations, and the city hums with the daily rhythm of tradition and progress. Nestled among the hills, Makeni is a city of promise, a place where hope rises like the sun over Bombali District.

Yet, like many great cities, Makeni carries the weight of challenges. Education, though valued, struggles to reach every child. Health services, despite passionate efforts, remain stretched. But now, like a beacon on the horizon, a vision emerges — one that seeks not just to mend but to elevate, not just to support but to transform. The Marine Foundation arrives, carrying with it a wave of change that will wash over Makeni and the Northern Province, igniting growth and empowering communities.

Bridging Cultures and Building Communities

The Marine Foundation believes that unity is the soul of progress. Makeni, with its diverse cultures and faiths, will become a thriving example of harmonious coexistence. At the heart of this transformation is the “Mamie Haja Bomposseh National Stadium,” a magnificent 70,000-seater marvel. It will not just host sports but serve as a cultural bridge, where young athletes of all backgrounds compete side by side, celebrating their shared dreams under the Sierra Leonean sky.

The stadium will be more than steel and stone. It will echo with the songs of unity and the chants of hope. Festivals will gather communities, and the youth will find purpose within its walls. It will be a place where stories are shared, talents are nurtured, and aspirations take flight.

Empowering Education for Future Generations

Education in Makeni is a journey, but for many, the path remains rocky. The Marine Foundation envisions schools where creativity flourishes, where children learn not just to read but to imagine, to innovate, and to lead. The Youth Empowerment Center, within the stadium complex, will be a sanctuary for minds eager to learn.

Imagine a child from Makeni discovering the world through technology, gaining skills that prepare them for global challenges. Imagine teachers inspired to nurture curious minds, their efforts supported by resources and training. Through partnerships with local schools and universities, the Marine Foundation will breathe new life into education, turning classrooms into havens of opportunity.

A Healthier Tomorrow

Makeni’s spirit remains unbroken despite struggles with diseases like yellow fever and malaria. The Marine Foundation understands that a healthy community is a thriving one. Thus, it will support local healthcare, investing in modern medical facilities and training first responders. The Holy Spirit Hospital, already a pillar of care, will receive support to expand its services, while new community clinics will sprout, offering accessible care to all.

But health is more than hospitals. It’s knowledge, prevention, and rapid response. By partnering with local organizations, the Foundation will equip communities to fight endemic diseases with resilience and knowledge. No mother should fear for her child’s safety, and no elder should be without care. In Makeni, health will be a promise fulfilled.

A Legacy of Hope and Prosperity

Makeni will stand as a symbol of how dreams, when nurtured with care, can bloom into reality. The Marine Foundation’s commitment is not just to the present but to the future, building a legacy that honors the past while paving the way for generations to come.

From the bustling markets to the academic corridors of the University of Makeni, from the fervent prayers at dawn to the cheers in the stadium at dusk, Makeni will flourish. Its people, strengthened and united, will become the architects of their destiny.

Together, they will weave a new story, one where unity, prosperity, and transformation are not just aspirations but a living, breathing reality. The Marine Foundation will not just build structures but plant seeds of progress, and from those seeds, a new Makeni will rise — stronger, brighter, and unbreakable.

The Importance of Sport in Makeni

Makeni: Where Football Breathes Life and Dreams Take Flight

Makeni wakes up to the sound of football. In the early dawn, the city’s fields come alive with the rhythmic thud of feet on the dusty ground, the laughter of young boys and girls kicking makeshift balls, and the spirited cheers of neighbors gathering to watch the unfolding dance of the game. Football here is more than just a sport; it’s a heartbeat, a language, a way of life.

The legendary Wusum Stars, Makeni’s pride, have carried the spirit of the city through victories and struggles alike. Established as one of Sierra Leone’s oldest and most respected football clubs, they are not just athletes — they are symbols of resilience and community pride. When the Wusum Stars take to the pitch, Makeni holds its breath, united in hope and fierce loyalty. The roar from the stands when they score echoes across the city, binding hearts and igniting dreams.

A Game of Unity and Purpose

For generations, Makeni’s love for football has bridged divides, bringing together people of different faiths and backgrounds. On match days, the city becomes one family, celebrating their common love for the game. From the Wusum Sports Stadium to the countless makeshift pitches across Bombali District, football is the universal call to come together, to cheer, to believe.

But for too long, the city’s football dreams have been limited by resources, by infrastructure, by the lack of opportunities for the next generation. Boys and girls who dribble barefoot under the blazing sun envision something greater — the chance to represent their city, their country, their continent on a global stage.

The Marine Foundation: Awakening the Spirit of Youth Through Football

And now, the Marine Foundation arrives, with a vision as bold as the game itself. Through the World Football Youth Association (FYA), the Foundation will transform Makeni into a thriving hub of athletic excellence. At the heart of this vision is the World Peace Cup (WPC) brand, celebrating youth, unity, and global harmony through sports. Supported by thousands of retired football legends, the FYA will cultivate not just players but leaders, using the game to shape character, discipline, and community spirit.

Imagine Makeni as the epicenter of youth football development in Africa. The new Mamie Haja Bomposseh National Stadium, a sprawling monument to unity, will host youth leagues, international tournaments, and training camps. Within its walls, legends will share their stories, coaching clinics will nurture talent, and the young will play not just to win but to grow, to learn, to build friendships that cross borders.

A Legacy of Champions

In the streets and schools of Makeni, the Foundation will create programs that engage children from all walks of life. Girls will play alongside boys, challenging outdated norms and showing that football belongs to everyone. Coaches will be trained not just to develop skills but to mentor, teaching young athletes how to overcome obstacles both on and off the pitch.

And when the Wusum Stars step onto the newly transformed field, they will not just be playing for Makeni but for a future where every child with a ball at their feet knows that their dreams are valid, that their talent can take them far beyond the city limits. The stadium will become a place where heroes are made, where youth find not just athletic prowess but purpose and pride.

Global Recognition and Local Pride

Through the FYA, Makeni will become synonymous with youth football excellence, hosting teams from across Africa and beyond. Retired legends, patrons of the WPC, will walk the same fields as aspiring players, sharing wisdom, inspiring greatness. Makeni will no longer just cheer for champions — it will become the birthplace of them.

The Foundation’s vision is grand but grounded, rooted in the spirit of Makeni itself. It recognizes the city’s passion, its tenacity, and its unwavering love for football. Through the FYA, the Marine Foundation will give young athletes not just a chance to play but a chance to succeed, to learn, to thrive.

From Dream to Reality

Football will not just remain a pastime but become a vehicle for education, for health awareness, for community unity. The game will inspire innovation, foster resilience, and forge lifelong friendships. And as Makeni’s youth chase that elusive ball, they will know that the world is watching, cheering for their success, believing in their future.

The Marine Foundation believes in Makeni’s heart. Through the power of football, it will unlock potential, nurture talent, and ensure that the game that has always been Makeni’s soul now becomes its path to a brighter tomorrow.

EcoVision – Refuse, Reduce, Reuse, Repurpose, Recycle

Written by Belinda Botha

When it comes to beach cleanups in Sierra Leone, West Africa, data collection and research play a vital role in understanding the impact of these efforts on the environment and informing future conservation strategies.

Comprehensive Report on Beach Cleanup Findings and Recommendations

Introduction:

This comprehensive report presents the findings of the data analysis conducted by Propel Organization as part of its beach cleanup initiatives in Sierra Leone. The report highlights the key observations, trends, and recommendations derived from the data collected during beach cleanups. The objective of this report is to provide a comprehensive overview of the extent and impact of beach pollution, as well as to propose evidence-based strategies for addressing this issue and promoting sustainable practices.

1. Findings:

a. Litter Composition: The data analysis revealed that the majority of litter found on the beaches consists of plastic items, including bottles, bags, and packaging materials. Other common types of litter include fishing gear, cigarette butts, and food wrappers. The presence of hazardous materials, such as broken glass and sharp objects, was also noted.

b. Litter Hotspots: The analysis identified specific areas along the coastline that are particularly prone to litter accumulation. These hotspots are located by urban centers, tourist attractions, and fishing communities. Understanding these hotspots is crucial for targeted cleanup efforts and pollution prevention measures.

c. Marine Debris: The data collected indicated a significant presence of marine debris, including plastic fragments and fishing nets. This poses a serious threat to marine life, as entanglement and ingestion of these materials can lead to injury or death.

d. Water Quality: Water quality testing revealed varying levels of pollution in the coastal waters. Parameters such as pH, dissolved oxygen, and presence of contaminants were within acceptable limits in some areas, while others showed signs of pollution, possibly due to nearby sources such as industrial discharge or improper waste management.

e. Biodiversity: The biodiversity assessment highlighted the importance of coastal ecosystems as habitats for various marine species. The presence of endangered or protected species, such as sea turtles and migratory birds, underscores the need for conservation efforts to protect their habitats from pollution.

2. Recommendations:

Based on the findings of the data analysis, the following recommendations are proposed to address beach pollution and promote sustainable practices:

a. Enhanced Waste Management: Implement and enforce proper waste management practices, including waste segregation, recycling initiatives, and the establishment of waste collection points along the coastline. Public awareness campaigns should be conducted to educate communities on the importance of responsible waste disposal.

b. Plastic Reduction Strategies: Collaborate with local businesses, government agencies, and NGOs to develop and implement strategies to reduce the use of single-use plastics. This may include promoting alternative packaging materials, encouraging reusable products, and implementing plastic bag bans in vulnerable areas.

c. Community Engagement: Engage local communities, schools, and youth groups in beach cleanup activities and environmental education programs. Foster a sense of ownership and responsibility among community members to ensure the sustainability of beach cleanup efforts.

d. Policy Advocacy: Advocate for the formulation and implementation of policies and regulations that address the root causes of beach pollution. This may include stricter enforcement of littering laws, imposing fines for improper waste disposal, and promoting corporate responsibility in waste management practices.

e. Collaboration and Partnerships: Strengthen collaboration with government agencies, NGOs, and other stakeholders to pool resources and expertise in addressing beach pollution. This includes sharing best practices, conducting joint cleanup activities, and supporting research and monitoring efforts.

f. Research and Monitoring: Continuously monitor the impact of beach cleanup initiatives and conduct research to assess the effectiveness of implemented strategies. This will provide valuable insights for further improvement and help track progress towards a cleaner and healthier coastal environment.

1. Methodology:

a. Site Selection: In addition to identifying heavily polluted or prone to pollution beaches, Propel also includes Lumley Creek Beach and Lumley Creek River in their site selection process. These areas are known for their ecological significance and are important water bodies in Sierra Leone.

2. Data Collection:

a. Litter Surveys: Visual surveys are conducted at Lumley Creek Beach and Lumley Creek River to identify and quantify different types of litter found in these areas. The collected litter is categorized and recorded based on material, size, and origin.

b. Marine Debris Monitoring: Propel collects data on marine debris in Lumley Creek Beach and Lumley Creek River, including plastic items, fishing gear, and other pollutants that pose a threat to marine life. The location and quantity of debris are documented.

c. Water Quality Testing: Propel conducts water quality tests at Lumley Creek Beach and Lumley Creek River to assess the level of pollution in these water bodies. Parameters such as pH, temperature, dissolved oxygen, and presence of contaminants are measured.

d. Biodiversity Assessment: Propel conducts surveys at Lumley Creek Beach and Lumley Creek River to document the presence of marine species, including endangered or protected species. This helps in understanding the impact of pollution on these ecosystems.

3. Recommendations:

Based on the data collected from Lumley Creek Beach and Lumley Creek River, the following additional recommendations are proposed:

a. Pollution Prevention Measures: Implement measures to prevent pollution from entering Lumley Creek Beach and Lumley Creek River. This may include setting up garbage collection points, promoting responsible waste disposal practices, and implementing measures to control industrial and agricultural runoff.

b. Habitat Restoration: Conduct restoration activities to improve the ecological health of Lumley Creek Beach and Lumley Creek River. This may involve planting native vegetation, removing invasive species, and restoring natural habitats for marine species.

c. Education and Awareness: Conduct educational programs and awareness campaigns specifically targeting Lumley Creek Beach and Lumley Creek River. This will help local communities understand the importance of these areas and encourage them to actively participate in their conservation.

d. Monitoring and Research: Continue monitoring the pollution levels and biodiversity of Lumley Creek Beach and Lumley Creek River to track the effectiveness of implemented measures and identify any emerging issues. Conduct research to better understand the specific challenges faced by these areas and develop targeted solutions.

Conclusion:

The findings presented in this comprehensive report highlight the extent and impact of beach pollution in Sierra Leone and emphasize the urgent need for action. By implementing the recommended strategies and fostering collaboration among stakeholders, Propel Organization can make a significant contribution to mitigating beach pollution and promoting sustainable practices. The preservation of Sierra Leone’s coastal environment requires a collective effort, and this report serves as a foundation for evidence-based decision-making and informed actions towards a cleaner and healthier coastline.

The inclusion of Lumley Creek Beach and Lumley Creek River in Propel’s beach cleanup initiatives further strengthens their efforts to address pollution and protect the coastal environment in Sierra Leone. By collecting data, implementing recommendations, and fostering collaboration, Propel Organization contributes to the preservation and restoration of Lumley Creek Beach and Lumley Creek River, ensuring their long-term sustainability.

A Day of Service and Celebration: Marine Foundation in Senegal

It was a momentous occasion in Senegal when the President of the Marine Foundation, Aicha Rebah, led a dedicated team to support and celebrate an important event at the Regional Hospital of Sedhiou. This initiative, rooted in compassion and service, brought together a community of volunteers to organize a memorable Iftar for the hospital’s patients and staff, reinforcing the values of unity, generosity, and social responsibility.

The Big Day at Sedhiou’s Regional Hospital

As the sun set over Sedhiou, preparations for Iftar were in full swing. The atmosphere was filled with dedication and excitement as the Marine Foundation team meticulously arranged the event to ensure that everyone at the hospital could break their fast in a warm and welcoming environment.

This act of kindness was more than just a meal; it was a gesture of solidarity with the healthcare workers who tirelessly serve their community and the patients who needed a moment of comfort and nourishment. The hospital’s corridors, often marked by the weight of medical concerns, were temporarily transformed into a shared joy and gratitude space.
